Dr Denise Hsu is a Research Physician at the U.S. Military HIV Research Program (MHRP), at the Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS), Bangkok, Thailand. Her current research involves both laboratory bench work and clinical trials. Her interests include delineating the sources of HIV persistence, assessing various HIV cure interventions as well as investigating the impact of HIV on the central nervous system. Dr Hsu received her medical degree from UNSW, Sydney, Australia with first class honor. She trained in internal medicine and completed fellowships in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, and Immunopathology at the Sydney South West Area Health Network, Australia.

Dr. Hsu received her Ph.D in Medicine from UNSW, Sydney Australia. Her Ph.D research focused on restoration of antigen specific CD4 T cell responses in advanced HIV infection. Her post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) focused on immune perturbations in HIV infection including the pathogenesis of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS) and persistent immune activation.
