Dr. Denis Bouchard, MD, CM, MSc, Ph.D., FRCSC trained at McGill University, University de Montreal, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cardiac Surgery. He joined the staff of The Montreal Heart Institute in July 2000. He leads and founded the cardiac surgery Minimally invasive surgical program of the Montreal Heart Institute in 2006. He has been very active in cardiac surgery training in Canada, being on the national exam committee since 2008 and being the cardiac surgery program director for University de Montreal since 2007.

He is an active researcher and clinical investigator, with 90 peer-reviewed publications, and 4 book chapters and he obtained a Ph.D. in clinical research in cardiac surgery in 2014. He travels around the world for lectures and surgery and has been conducting 6 humanitarian cardiac surgery missions in Southern Egypt and Ethiopia. His main interests are valvular surgery, mitral valve repair, HOCM surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
