Denes V. Agoston, M.D., Ph.D. is tenured Professor of Neuroscience at the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics, Uniformed Services University (USU), Bethesda Maryland, U.S.A. and Guest Scientist at the world-renowned Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to his current appointments, Dr. Agoston spent most of his scientific carrier at the Max-Planck-Institute in Germany and at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. After obtaining his M.D. degree at the University Medical School, Szeged, Hungary he won a Max-Planck-Fellowship and made his Ph.D. in neuroscience at the Max-Planck-Institute, Gottingen, Germany. He won a German Scientific Council Fellowship and he moved to National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, USA where he worked as Visiting Scientist before he became the Head of the Research Unit on Neurodifferentiation at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
