Demosthenes Bouros is a graduate of the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (1975) and a PhD of the University of Athens (1988). He was a research fellow at the Harvard University in Boston and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Boston University (1986-1988). He spent his sabbatical as a Senior Research Associate at the Royal Brompton Hospital, and the National Heart and Lung Institute-Interstitial Lung Disease Unit at the Imperial College of London, UK (1998-1999). He elected assistant Professor in Pneumonology at the Medical School, University of Crete (1989), associate Professor (1995-2002) and Professor of Pneumonology at the University of Thrace, Greece (2002-). European Respiratory Society Visiting professor at the Medical University of Vienna (2010).
