Delphine Destoumieux-Garzon is the deputy director of the laboratory “Interactions Hosts-Pathogens-Environments”, a joint research unit of the University of Montpellier, CNRS, Ifremer, and the University of Perpignan, France. Her laboratory is interested in the mechanisms, evolution, and ecosystem dynamics leading to the occurrence of infectious agents, as well as their dissemination and extinction in natural habitats and hosts.

Delphine's personal research focuses on the multiple host and pathogen factors contributing to infectious disease emergence in marine environments subjected to environmental and anthropic pressure. Over her career, she has focused on immunity and emerging diseases in marine invertebrates (crustaceans and mollusks). In particular, she has studied the interactions between Vibrionaceae and the immune system of marine bivalves under environmental constraints.

Delphine has chaired and vice-chaired international conferences on antimicrobial peptides and organized national conferences on invertebrate immunity. She has been a task officer for the CNRS in charge of the Research at the Health x Environment nexus (One Health framework, 2017-2021). She is currently in charge of setting up a health and environment workshop zone in the Camargue for the CNRS. Her current projects focus on (i) Vibrio adaptation to oyster as a host, including resistance to antimicrobials; (ii) Transmissible cancers in mussels; and (iii) Antimicrobial resistance in marine environments used for oyster farming.
