Deirdre Cogan BASc, PhD

Deirdre Cogan is a writer and editor in the Foundation’s Communications team, specialized in transforming research findings into practical and informative materials. She supports the Foundation’s reporting activities across all research programmes.

Before joining the Foundation, Deirdre fulfilled a fellowship in Science Communication and Public Engagement in SFI, Ireland’s national foundation for investment in scientific and engineering research. She has completed a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Dublin City University, where she developed her skills in science communications and published several sections of her thesis in peer-reviewed journals. She won Ireland’s national science communications award “Thesis in Three”. On moving to the Netherlands, Deirdre worked for a social enterprise within the communications team covering the latest medical research topics and regulatory approvals.
