Dr. Shelby has been practicing dermatology since she graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner in January 2000. In 2006, she was accepted into the DNP doctoral program at the University of South Florida (USF). As her doctoral project, she developed the nation’s first Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) Dermatology Residency and became the first resident to complete the program in 2008. In 2014, she completed her PhD at USF with a cognate foci on biomedical and dermatology research.
She has focused her academic and clinical experiences toward the treatment of skin cancers. She is the President and Founder of the National Academy of Dermatology NPs and the American College of Dermatology NPs. Each year she serves as the Chair of Annual Conference Planning Committee for NADNP and ACDNP. This six – day conference offers dermatology education to health care practitioners in all clinical settings.
