Deborah Estrin is a Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech where she holds The Robert V. Tishman Founder's Chair and has recently taken on a leadership role as Associate Dean. She is also a Professor of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College. She founded and directs the Health Tech Hub in the Jacobs Institute at Cornell Tech. Previously, she was a Professor of Computer Science at UCLA, where she was Founding Director of the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS, 2001-2012). Estrin received her PhD (1985) in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and her BS (1980) from U.C. Berkeley. Professor Estrin was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2007 and the National Academy of Engineering in 2009. She is the co-founder of the non-profit OpenmHealth and sits on several scientific advisory boards for early-stage mobile health startups.
