Deborah is a Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist in Co Durham and has worked in this role for 10 years. On a placement as a student nurse many years ago, Deborah realised that Haematology was her passion and has worked largely within this speciality. Her previous roles included managing an inpatient ward and a chemotherapy Unit. Within her current role, Deborah has developed nurse led clinics and telephone clinics, resulting in increased service efficiency. Working in a District General Hospital, Deborah works with patients with Myeloma, Lymphoma, Myeloproliferative disorders, Chronic Leukaemia and non -malignant haematological conditions.

Deborah is the current chair of the regional Haematology CNS group and enjoys this role, working collaboratively to improve patient pathways within the Cancer Alliance. As a group, they are particularly interested in improving and developing provision, for living with and beyond haematological conditions. Over the past 8 years the group has successfully organised a number of events to address this need. When not doing her very satisfying job, Deborah is married with 3 children aged 20, 17 and 13 and when not on taxi duty, she loves to climb mountains, appreciates the outdoors and socialises with friends.
