Dr. Debadyuti (Rana) Ghosh, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Molecular Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. His research focuses on the biologically inspired design of biomolecules and nanoscale materials to overcome physiological barriers and improve therapeutic delivery, particularly for cancer and mucosal-associated diseases.
Dr. Ghosh’s laboratory integrates principles from pharmaceutical sciences, materials science, and bioengineering to develop innovative drug delivery systems. A key area of his work involves using combinatorial approaches to identify peptides capable of penetrating complex biological barriers such as the blood–brain barrier, mucus layers, and solid tumors, enabling more effective and targeted therapies.
He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and his PhD from Rice University, where he studied engineered viral systems for targeted gene delivery. He later completed postdoctoral training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on virus-based nanoscale materials for cancer imaging.
