Dean C. Carlow, M.D., Ph.D., FCAP is Section Chief of Clinical Consultation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and director of the Clinical Pharmacology and Mass Spectrometry laboratory and holds the hospital position Associate Attending Physician. In this position Dr. Carlow functions as the primary clinical liaison between the laboratories and the clinical faculty for a variety of clinically-oriented issues.

In addition, he provides technical and medical direction for all therapeutic drug monitoring testing and all new test development using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Prior to his present position, he was the director of the Clinical Chemistry section and the Core Laboratory at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In this role he was responsible for clinical and medical oversight of the testing in general chemistry, endocrinology, toxicology/therapeutic drug monitoring, special chemistry, and the blood gas laboratories.

Dr. Carlow carried an academic appointment of Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Carlow received his Ph.D. in biochemistry and biophysics and his M.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill. He completed his clinical pathology residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
