Donald Allan Mcclain MD, PhD

Dr. Donald A. McClain, MD, Ph.D. is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and a part-time Physician Investigator at the Kernersville VA Medical Center. McClain serves as Director of the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Center on Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism, and the NIH-funded North Carolina Diabetes Research Center, the latter in partnership with UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke, and NC A-T. Donald's research includes basic and clinical studies of Type 2 Diabetes pathogenesis, with an emphasis on the role of iron in that disease.
