David W. Goodman, M.D., LFAPA, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at Norton School of Medicine, State University of New York, Syracuse, New York. He is also the Director of the Adult Attention Deficit Disorder Center of Maryland in Lutherville and the Director of Suburban Psychiatric Associates, LLC. A 1983 Albany Medical College of Union University graduate, Dr. Goodman completed a medical/psychiatric internship at Baltimore City Hospital and his psychiatric residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1986. Dr. Goodman continued a full-time clinical practice focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders, adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and anxiety disorders for almost 40 years. For almost 35 years, he has been teaching psychiatric residents at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and now also at the Norton School of Medicine for 3 years.

Dr. Goodman has presented over 750 lectures to primary care physicians, psychiatrists, medical specialists, and the general public. His psychiatric commentary has been featured on national (ABC World News, CNN Anderson Cooper 360, ESPN Sports Center) and regional television around the country, PBS and national affiliate stations, national magazines (U.S. News and World Report, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Weekend Magazine, Boston Globe, BusinessWeek), and radio interviews around the country. Dr. Goodman has been an ADHD consultant to Major League Baseball and is now a consultant to the National Football League and the World Anti-Doping Agency, which oversees international sports, including the Olympics.

Dr. Goodman has been a Principal Investigator for multi-site Phase II and III drug trials for the treatment of adult Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Major Depression. Dr. Goodman is the lead author of the largest adult ADHD trial published and the lead author of the largest survey assessment of physician clinical practice for adults with ADHD. He has published ~35 articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored four book chapters, and co-authored The Black Book of ADHD. He served as a prepublication peer reviewer for several national and international psychiatric journals. To advance funding and collaborative support for adult ADHD research and education, he founded two non-profit foundations (MyADHDFoundation.org and ADHDWorldFoundation.org).
