Professor David Varon received his BSc in Biology (1972), and medical degree (1976), at Tel Aviv University and completed his medical and hematology training at Kaplan Medical Center in 1987. At the years 1987-2001 he served as the deputy director of the National Hemophilia Center at Sheba Medical Center. At the year 2001 Prof. Varon was appointed as the director of the coagulation unit at Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Canter, where he served until retiring on December 2013. Professor Varon is specializing in general hematology (not oncology), and blood coagulation. His area of expertise includes Bleeding disorders (hemophilia, von Willebrands disease etc), Platelets disorders (Immune thrombocytopenia, functional disorders), Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE), pregnancy associated coagulation disorders, thrombophilia, anticoagulant therapy and monitoring (heparins, warfarine)
