David Stanton is currently employed as the Head of Clinical and Education at Netcare. In this position, he oversees all clinical matters, including policy, structure, and oversight for a national private EMS system, which includes road ambulances and response vehicles, helicopters operating in three provinces, and a fixed-wing aeromedical service. He also manages the Netcare Education Faculty of Emergency and Critical Care, with campuses in two provinces, from where the Higher Certificate and Diploma programs in Emergency and Medical Care are offered. David still actively practices in the clinical setting, in both the road and aeromedical critical care retrieval environments. He also manages the Consistency of Care framework within the business, which encompasses quality management and improvement.
David is a Faculty member for the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa for BLS, ACLS, and PALS, and has been a past Chairperson for that organization. He is also a Faculty member, and National Co-coordinator for ITLS (SA), as well as a current EXCO member of EMSSA. David has been an author on 12 peer-reviewed publications, and a collaborator on a further 4. He has presented at a wide variety of national and international conferences and is an active CME presenter.
