Professor Hui is the Stanley Ho Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Chair Professor at the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is also the Director of the Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infections Diseases, CUHK.
During the major outbreak of SARS in 2003 and the H1N1 influenza pandemic in 2009, he was heavily involved in the clinical management of severe cases at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. He has been a regular advisor to the WHO since 2004 and a writing committee member on WHO guidelines related to the clinical management of severe influenza (including avian influenza) and other emerging severe acute respiratory infections including the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.
