David S. KountzMD, MBA, FACP
Dr. David Kountz is Vice President, Academic Affairs, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and Dr. Kountz is responsible for nonnursing academic programs at the hospital, including continuing medical education, graduate medical education, and clinical research for the parent health system, Meridian Health. Dr. Kountz earned his AB at Princeton, MD at SUNY/Buffalo School of Medicine, and MBA from Georgian Court University. Dr. Kountz’s clinical and research interests are in the management of hypertension and related disorders in underserved populations and strategies to address low health literacy.
Dr. Kountz is the immediate Past-President of the International Society on Hypertension in Blacks. In 2002 was elected to the Stuart D. Cook, MD Master Education Guild of (then) UMDNJ, now Rutgers University. He serves on the Governor’s Council of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Physicians, and in 2014 was elected to the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC). Dr. Kountz, a practicing internist, is currently funded by the George Washington University Institute for Spirituality and Health and the John Templeton Foundation to study the impact of Reflection Rounds in the medical school curriculum.
