David is a clinical lead in Heartlands Hospital’s Emergency Department. He is also National Course director for the innovative HECTOR project and a medical advisor for BBC Casualty. He is also Midlands Silver Trauma Group Chair. David lives in Bromsgrove with his wife and two young children. He loves skiing, running and going to the gym and is planning to do four mud runs this year. Like many of his colleagues, he says there it is possible to get a good work/life balance here – and he also loves the location. “Birmingham is great, it’s obviously very land locked and not near the coast at all but it’s such a diverse place both in the people who live here and the geography we have.

“As well as Birmingham itself and the surrounding areas you’ve got Malverns, the Lickey Hills, Coventry and the Warwickshire countryside and then you’ve got more urban stuff. Central Birmingham has loads of nice restaurants and loads of venues for concerts. There’s loads of stuff to do – You are always within driving distance of doing something different. “
