David R. Nelson, M.D., is a professor of medicine and associate dean for clinical research in the University of Florida College of Medicine and director of the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Funded in part by the National Institutes of Health, the UF CTSI helps improve how biomedical research is conducted and enables scientists to work together to speed the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinical treatments. Dr. Nelson received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from SUNY Upstate University in Syracuse. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts and obtained fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at UF
