Dr. David Colnot has been working as an ENT doctor in the Diakonessenhuis since November 2004. He studied medicine at Utrecht University where he obtained his medical finals in 1997. During his studies, he did internships in London (Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine), Paris (Assistance Publique - Paris Hospitals), and Montpellier (Center Hospitalier University).
Until 2004, he trained as an ENT doctor at the VU medical center in Amsterdam. Prior to training as an ENT doctor, he worked for two years in the Tumor Biology laboratory of the ENT department of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam. In 2004 he obtained his doctorate with his thesis "Radioimmunotherapy in Head and Neck Cancer Patients". In connection with the research described in the thesis, he received the Woldring Prize in 1999 from the Dutch Association for Nuclear Medicine.
His main area of interest is otology: operations of the ear due to inflammation (chronic otitis media and cholesteatoma) or hearing problems (otosclerosis). Together with fellow otologists in the Diakonessenhuis, he provides international refresher courses in the field of otology and publishes on the results of ear operations. He is also an ENT consultant at Bartimeus and Christophorus, institutions for patients with multiple disabilities, and he is responsible for the care of patients with intellectual disabilities within the Diakonessenhuis.
