Dr. David Polaner, MD, FAAP is a Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Polaner received his undergraduate education at Yeshiva University and his MD from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, both in New York. He trained in pediatrics at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital, and in anesthesiology at the University of Washington. Following a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology and critical care at Seattle Children’s, he was a research fellow in Warren Zepol's laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a member of the Pediatric Anesthesia team at the MGH. He was appointed to the faculty of Harvard Medical School and subsequently became Director of Pediatric Critical Care at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, where he held joint appointments in anesthesiology and pediatrics. From 2000-2018 he was Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics, Director of the Acute Pain Service, and Chief of the Transplant Anesthesia service at Children’s Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado.
Dr. Polaner has lectured at many institutions and symposia in the US, Europe, Israel, and the Far East. He is the author of over 100 scientific articles and book chapters, and is co-author and editor, with Robert Holzman and Thomas Mancuso of Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital, of the textbook “A Practical Approach to Pediatric Anesthesia”.
