Dr. David P. Faxon is Associate Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine and a cardiovascular medicine specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also a senior lecturer on medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS).

Dr. Faxon received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and a cardiovascular disease residency at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Faxon is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. He was the Chief of Cardiology at USC as well as the University of Chicago before moving to BWH in 2006. Dr. Faxon was president of the American Heart Association 2010-2011.

His clinical interests include acute coronary syndrome, clinical cardiology, coronary artery disease, and interventional cardiology. The author of over 300 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Faxon’s research focuses on understanding the mechanism of angioplasty and restenosis. His research has received support from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
