Dr David Orr is lecturer in social work at the University of Sussex, where his principal research interests focus on adult safeguarding and self-neglect, culture and mental health, and dementia. He has worked on a number of knowledge reviews for the Social Care Institute for Excellence (Scie) and has published in a number of academic journals in the fields of social work, psychiatry, psychology and medical anthropology.
He co-authored research reports on safeguarding governance and on self-neglect with Professors Suzy Braye and Michael Preston-Shoot, both available from www.scie.org.uk . Before entering academia, his practice experience was in adult learning disability and older adult mental health.
