Dr. David Topolsky believes empowering patients to make educated decisions about their treatment is a critical part of his role as an oncologist. He says, “I empower my patients by giving them the knowledge to make treatment decisions they feel are best for them. In July 2011, Dr. Topolsky became a member of our integrated team of cancer experts at our Philadelphia hospital, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) in Philadelphia. The seasoned hematologist and medical oncologist brings nearly 30 years of experience to his position at CTCA®.

Dr. Topolsky is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Temple University, he earned a medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as a hematology-oncology fellowship at Hahnemann University. He also served as chief fellow. For several years, Dr. Topolsky was an associate professor of hematology-oncology at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. While with the university hospital, he served as medical director of its national marrow donor transplant center and as co-medical director of its stem cell processing lab.

Dr. Topolsky has been published extensively. His research has been published in leading clinical journals, such as the American Journal of Clinical Oncology and the American Journal of Hematology. He is a member of a number of professional associations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
