David Kubicki is a certified registered nurse anesthetist whose interest and experience lies in ultrasound utilization and education in anesthesia and critical care. Before earning a Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, David worked in the medical intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH for six years. It was there that David learned to use ultrasound for vascular access, lung imaging, and transthoracic echocardiography. Over a two-year period, he inserted over 1000 ultrasound-guided IVs and developed an innovative technique to achieve near 100% success and insertion times of less than a minute. During that time, he educated nurses and physicians on safe, precise, and fast ultrasound-guided vascular cannulation.
While attending anesthesia school at the University of Pennsylvania, he utilized his interest in ultrasound to gain significant experience performing ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. Coupling his interests in ultrasound and education, David delivered engaging, multimedia-rich presentations such as “Ultrasound-Guided Difficult Airway Management” and “High-Accuracy Dynamic Ultrasound-Guided Vascular Access” at professional conferences and clinical sites. In addition to lecturing, David taught students and staff how to utilize ultrasound more effectively in their daily practice.
