David Joseph Vining BS, MD

David Vining is a Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where he serves as the Medical Director of the Image Processing and Visualization Laboratory. Dr. Vining completed his BS in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in 1983, MD from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1987, Radiology Residency at University Hospital in Shreveport in 1992, and Body Imaging/3D Imaging fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1993.

Dr. Vining began his academic career at the Wake Forest University in 1993 where he invented virtual colonoscopy, a minimally invasive method for colorectal cancer screening that utilizes CT scanning and 3D image analysis. Another of his inventions in the field of multimedia structured reporting led
