David I Bernstein, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, FACP, is a Professor of Medicine and Environmental Health in the Division of Immunology, Allergy, and Rheumatology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio. He also serves as Co-Director of the Allergy Fellowship Program and Director of the University Hospital Allergy Clinic. Dr. Bernstein earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, and fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL. His primary research focuses on the field of occupational asthma and the environmental causes of allergic disorders in children.

Dr. Bernstein has authored or coauthored over 200 original publications in medical journals as well as numerous reviews and book chapters. He serves on the editorial board of JACI In Practice and Journal of Asthma. Dr. Bernstein directs a very active clinical research center in Cincinnati, where he has served as Principal Investigator for hundreds of clinical trials of new therapies for asthma, COPD, and allergic skin disorders. He chairs the American Board of Allergy and Immunology that certifies the clinical competence of US allergy specialists. He is a fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the American Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and the American College of Physicians.
