David G. Fairchild MD, MPH, FACP

Dr. Fairchild is professor of medicine at UMass Medical School and has been a practicing general internist for more than 20 years. Before coming to the University of Massachusetts healthcare system in 2011, he was the Chief Medical Officer at Tufts Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Before moving to Tufts in 2003, Dr. Fairchild was the Director of Primary Care Services at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. After completing his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut and an additional year there as Chief Resident, Dr. Fairchild spent 3 years on the Navajo Reservation as a physician in the Indian Health Service, serving as the Chief of Staff of his IHS hospital in Chinle, Arizona. He is board-certified in internal medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
