David F. Pinelli PhD

Dr. Pinelli is a Research Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Northwestern University. He received his undergraduate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D. in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis from Emory University. He joined the Transplant Immunology Laboratory at the Comprehensive Transplant Center in 2016 as a Laboratory Director in Training and was board-certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics in 2020. His main scientific interests include investigating the factors that influence the formation of de novo donor-specific HLA antibodies, as well as collaborating with clinicians to utilize HLA antibody information to inform clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.
