David E. Reece DO, FAAPM&R, FAANEM

Dr. David E. Reece, DO, FAAPM&R, FAANEM, is an interventional spine and pain physiatrist with extensive experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation, interventional pain medicine, neuromodulation, and military medicine. He currently serves as Director of Neuromodulation and Interventional Physiatry at Absolute Pain Management in Rockville, Maryland, where he focuses on the evaluation and treatment of patients with complex pain and neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Reece earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. He completed his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation through the National Capital Consortium at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). He subsequently completed an ACGME-accredited Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship conducted jointly through Walter Reed, Johns Hopkins, and the National Institutes of Health. He is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and holds subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine, as well as fellowship recognition from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FAAPM&R) and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (FAANEM). He is also trained in medical acupuncture.

His clinical expertise encompasses the management of complex chronic pain, neuromuscular disorders, acute and chronic musculoskeletal and sports injuries, headaches, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, and polytrauma and amputee rehabilitation. Dr. Reece employs a multimodal approach that incorporates fluoroscopic- and ultrasound-guided procedures, neuromodulation, minimally invasive spinal interventions, regenerative medicine and orthobiologic injections, medical acupuncture, osteopathic manipulation, and other complementary treatment modalities.

A significant part of Dr. Reece's career has been devoted to military medicine and the care of service members and veterans. He has held leadership positions at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, including Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/Pain Medicine, and has served as a Musculoskeletal/Pain Specialty Consultant to the White House Medical Unit. He has also been involved in clinical operations and medical education within the Uniformed Services University and Walter Reed system.
