David Cross’s career has been as varied as was accomplished. Dr. Cross attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and completed his anesthesiology residency and critical care training at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. After leaving the US Navy, he rejoined the USAF Reserves, retiring from military service as a Colonel. In subsequent academic, private group, and private solo practices, he has administered, supervised, and taught virtually all aspects of anesthesia care, including pediatric, obstetric, neurosurgery, cardiac, thoracic, and major vascular anesthesia. His practice settings include large academic centers, as well as both large and small rural private hospitals.

Dr. Cross has been an actively contributing member to our society. He has served on numerous ASA committees, was a question writer and editor for the ABA In-Training Council, and an Oral Board examiner for several years. He originated and presided over the Resident Practice Management Track of the ASA Practice Management Conference, for which he was honored with the ASA Resident House of Delegates Distinguished Service Award. In the private sector, he has served as President of Medical Staff and Chief of Anesthesiology.

Currently, Dr. Cross maintains his commitment to education by serving as faculty at Texas A&M Health Sciences Center and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, where he continues to administer mock oral board exams.
