Joining the CIS team in 1999, David C. Konur, FACHE, serves as the institute's chief executive officer (CEO), bringing experience and drive to one of the nation's leaders in cardiovascular care. Mr. Konur, a native of Leesburg, Virginia, received his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and his Master of Healthcare Administration from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to joining CIS, Mr. Konur was a senior executive at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), where he developed a management services organization (MSO) for its physician practices and was responsible for the operational, strategic and financial management of the radiology and special imaging, laboratory, pathology, blood bank, cardio-respiratory, home health, home infusion, hospice, and property management departments.
Prior to TGMC, Mr. Konur founded and served as president and chief executive officer for Integrated Health Management, Inc., a consulting company geared towards helping physicians manage changes in the healthcare environment. Integrated Health Management, based out of New Orleans, consulted for physician practices in Louisiana, Texas and Florida and guided its clients to strategies that increased collections, reduced overhead expenses, and improved patient satisfaction. Konur is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), American Medical Group Association (AMGA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and serves on a number of boards for healthcare companies and civic organizations. He is a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and Fellow (FACHE) of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Konur has received a number of awards and honors, including a Gold Congressional Medal Award.
