David completed his PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 1983, before undertaking post-doctoral research in Cardiff, Wales, and Massachusetts, USA. In 1992, he was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Nottingham, where he is now Professor of Human Genetics. David’s research group is interested in the molecular cause of neuromuscular and heart conditions, in particular myotonic dystrophy. He is currently funded by Wellcome Trust to develop small molecules to treat myotonic dystrophy.
