David Araújo Vilar graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 from the University of Santiago de Compostela, after which he graduated five years later. From 1992 to 1996 he was an assistant at the University of the USC Department of Medicine and since 1998 he has been a full professor of Medicine and a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition. In 2003 Araújo-Vilar created, together with Professor Lado Abel, the Unit of Thyroid and Metabolic Diseases, which currently directs the Endocrinology Service of CHUS with the intention of deepening the investigation of molecular alterations of thyroid tumor pathology and other emerging thyroid syndromes and not studied. Molecular mechanisms give insulin resistance in different metabolic syndromes. In addition, he is the founding president of the Spanish Society of Lipodystrophies.
