David Almeida MD, PhD, MBA

Dr. David R. P. Almeida is a highly qualified ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon. With an Honors Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical research from the University of Szeged in Hungary, Dr. Almeida combines comprehensive medical knowledge with an academic background. Further credentials include an MBA in healthcare management from The George Washington University and an ophthalmology residency and fellowship at the University of Iowa.

Currently serving as President and CEO of Erie Retina Research, Dr. Almeida also heads the Center for Advanced Surgical Exploration with sites @ CASExERIE, CASExMIAMI, CASExPHILADELPHIA, CASExPANAMA, CASExJORDAN, CASExINDIA, CASExMANILA & CASExTOKYO. He has an impressive portfolio of over 300 peer-reviewed publications and over 250 presentations at major conferences. His research interests span age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, complex surgery & practice efficiency. As Principal Investigator, he has led over 120 clinical trials across all phases of development, including over 80 on three continents.
