Dr. Darin E. Olson, MD, Ph.D. is a board-certified endocrinologist. He graduated from Duke University, then continued graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University completing a combined MD/Ph.D. degree at Boston University School of Medicine. He did residency training in Internal Medicine and stayed for an Endocrinology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. He was a Staff Physician for 18 years in the Endocrine Section at the Atlanta VAHCS and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipids. He looks to expand his career with Colorado Mountain Medical serving the Vail Valley and surrounding region.

Dr. Olson is known as an experienced, evidence-based adult general endocrinologist interested in all aspects of adult endocrinology including osteoporosis, parathyroid disease, and metabolic calcium and bone disease; thyroid disorders and thyroid cancer including ultrasound-guided biopsy of thyroid nodules; adrenal disease; pituitary disease; lipid disorders; gonadal dysfunction; and diabetes. He has been a recognized lecturer, researcher, and clinician related to gene therapy and tissue engineering for diabetes; early diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes, exercise in diabetes, technology in diabetes, inpatient care for diabetes, insulin In type 2 diabetes, caring for older adults with diabetes, relations between liver and diabetes, and clinical trials on cardiovascular outcomes associated with diabetic medicines, lipid-lowering agents, and testosterone. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Endocrine Society. He is a board member for Team Type 1.
