Dr. Danielle Rulli’s research endeavors focus on the areas of interprofessional education and practice, particularly the intersection of oral health and behavioral health, and non-surgical periodontal therapies. Dr. Rulli was an invited contributor to Oral Health in America: Advances and Challenges, the landmark follow-up to the 2000 Surgeon General's Oral Health in America, published by the NIDCR. She is a subject matter expert for the National Council on Mental Wellbeing’s Oral Health, Mental Health, and Substance Use Treatment: A Framework for Increased Coordination and Integration. Dr. Rulli has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers.

Dr. Rulli is recognized for her leadership and contributions to dental education, receiving a Chair of the ADEA Board of Directors Citation, and has been an ADEA Leadership Institute Fellow. She has received the University of Michigan’s prestigious Provost’s Teaching Innovation Prize and was a University of Michigan Interprofessional Leaders Fellow. Dr. Rulli currently serves as a member of the ADEA Task Force on Envisioning and Transforming the Future of Oral Health Education. She speaks nationally and internationally on non-surgical periodontal in implant therapies and dental education, and maintains an active clinical practice.
