Professor Daniele Tognetto graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Trieste on 11/13/1987 with marks of 110/110 and honors. He was the winner of the competition for the assignment of a scholarship to attend the School of Specialization in Ophthalmology of the University of Trieste where on 12/13/1991 he obtained the Specialization Diploma in Ophthalmology with 50/50 marks and praise. In May 1991, he won the competition for University Collaborator at the Institute of Ophthalmology Clinic of the University of Trieste. In February 1996 he was the winner of the competition for University Researcher for the discipline of Visual Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Trieste.

In April 2006 he was the winner of the competition for second-level University Professor for the scientific disciplinary sector Diseases of the Visual System at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Trieste. From 1 November 2011, he was given the role of Director of the Ophthalmology Clinic Operational Unit of the current Integrated University Health Authority of Trieste which he still manages today.

Since 1992, Prof. Tognetto has participated in teaching activities in the teaching of Diseases of the Visual System at the Faculty of Medicine. He was subsequently the holder of the Integrated Ophthalmology Course of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery and subsequently Coordinator of the Integrated Course "Head and Neck Pathology".

Since the 2011/2012 Academic Year he has been Director of the School of Specialization in Ophthalmology. He regularly carries out tutoring activities for the internal students of the Ophthalmology Clinic during the Degree in Medicine and Surgery, taking care of the drafting of the Degree and Specialization theses. He has been supervisor and co-supervisor of numerous degree theses in Medicine and Surgery and theses for the Specialization Diploma in Ophthalmology.

He has carried out and carried out various teaching courses at Specialization Schools in Ophthalmology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Paediatrics. He was part of the Teaching Board in the Ph.D. in "Experimental and Clinical Ophthalmology in the field of degenerative alterations of the retina" and in the Ph.D. in nanotechnology "Engineering and bio compatibilization of intraocular lens surfaces" and "Biomaterials in ocular microsurgery".
