Daniela Filipescu, MD, Ph.D., DEAA is a cardiac anesthesiologist. Dr. Filipescu was the first Romanian holding the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC). Her fellowship training in cardiovascular anesthesia was at Bichat and Pitie-Salpetriere Hospitals in Paris, France, and at Humana Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She also graduated from the Interuniversity Specialization Diploma (DIS) at the Institute of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Paris. Dr. Filipescu’s research main interests include the cardiac patient, hemostasis and transfusion, sepsis and patient safety. Dr. Filipescu co-authored European guidelines on the management of severe perioperative bleeding and trauma bleeding. She is currently chairing a national multidisciplinary group for the implementation of Patient Blood Management in Romania.

Dr. Filipescu is Professor of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and the Scientific Coordinator of the National Congress of the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. She also holds a Master degree in Management of Health and Social Systems from the University of Bucharest and is currently the Medical Director of the Emergency Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in Bucharest.
