Dr. Daniel W. Gil, PhD is Vice President, Research Technologies and Research Portfolio Lead at Allergan. He leads a team of researchers implementing translational models and endpoints and creating biologics and small molecules to treat vision-related diseases, including macular degeneration and glaucoma, dermatological and inflammatory conditions. He has led the discovery and nomination of 13 molecules into clinical development and overseen the clinical testing of six drug candidates for glaucoma, chronic pain and dermatology. Dr. Gil is an author on peer reviewed papers in the areas of molecular pharmacology, glaucoma, retinal disease and pain and he is an inventor on more than 40 United States patents. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Gil received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Harvard University and his Doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania.
