Dan Hunt, MD is the Director of the Emory Division of Hospital Medicine and Professor of Medicine at Emory University of School of Medicine. Before moving to Emory in 2015, Dan’s professional experience included the private practice of general internal medicine, academic internal medicine at a safety-net hospital, extensive involvement in medical education, and substantial leadership experience at a major academic medical center.

Dan received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After completing internal medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine, he enjoyed eleven years in the private practice of general internal medicine in Houston, ultimately becoming a partner with the Medical Clinic of Houston in the Texas Medical Center. He returned to academic medicine as a clinician-educator at Baylor College of Medicine in 1995. He focused much of his clinical teaching on the inpatient wards at the Ben Taub General Hospital, while also participating in small group activities, large lecture hall teaching, and leadership/development of major educational initiatives.
