Dr. Daniel participates in a variety of research projects in collaboration with several institutions. Basic scientific research primarily focuses on new materials and methods to stimulate bone formation in cranial bone defects. The clinical research involves skull deformities, known as craniosynostosis, and cleft lip and cleft palate. The projects highlight different aspects of brain development and function in craniosynostosis, genetic causes of craniosynostosis and cleft lip and cleft palate, changes in volume and intracranial pressure after surgery for skull deformities, replacement of fluids and blood in surgery of skull deformities, speech in cleft lip and palate and long term results after bone grafting to the alveolar cleft in children with cleft lip and cleft palate.
