Dan is an Arizona native who grew up in Phoenix. After earning his Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Dan left Arizona for the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and then a Master’s of Science in Nursing with specialization as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. While in Iowa, Dan worked as a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Upon graduation, he returned to Arizona and began working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Banner Children’s Specialists in Child Neurology. At that time, he also began working on a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree through the University of Iowa.
Dan has continued to practice in child neurology, but more recently on a part-time basis. Currently, Dan is a full-time faculty member at Arizona State University teaching in the DNP program.
Dan has been involved in his local NAPNAP chapter since his time as a graduate student. Prior to becoming president, he served as the legislative chair for the Arizona Chapter. In addition to NAPNAP involvement, Dan is also active in the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, where he has held multiple leadership positions, and other professional organizations in which he is a member. Dan lives in Gilbert with his wife and four children. In his free time, Dan enjoys backpacking, camping, fishing, reading, playing the guitar, and traveling. He and his family like to take annual road trips that take them to various places around the United States.
