Dr. Daniel Kwon is a fellowship-trained head and neck cancer surgeon specializing in Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery. He is an Assistant Professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology, and is the Director of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Kwon moved to California to complete his Otolaryngology residency at Loma Linda University. He then went on to New York City for fellowship training in head and neck cancer, microvascular reconstruction, and robotic surgery with Dr. Eric Genden and Dr. Brett Miles at Mount Sinai Hospital. After completing the fellowship, Dr. Kwon returned to join the faculty at Loma Linda University. There he worked alongside Dr. Alfred Simental, one of the foremost thyroid cancer surgeons in the country, before joining USC to help establish the USC Thyroid Center of Excellence.
Dr. Kwon believes in a philosophy of whole-person care and patient-centered treatment planning. In order to minimize the burden on patients, he offers services such as same-day in-office biopsy and point-of-care ultrasound. Dr. Kwon is one of the only comprehensive thyroid surgeons who can offer the full range of services from minimally invasive thyroidectomy to major open microvascular reconstruction.
