Dr. Daniel (Dan) W. Capron, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at Florida State University. He is the director of the USM Anxiety and Trauma Research Program, which utilizes technology-enhanced assessments (e.g., EEG/ERP, Virtual Reality Headsets) and interventions (e.g., mobile phone/computer-delivered cognitive bias modification) to prevent and treat anxiety, trauma, and suicide psychopathology. Currently, his students are working on projects related to utilizing behavioral economics techniques to increase suicide prevention, examining moral injury and aggression in suicidal individuals, testing new models of nocturnal panic attacks, and the effect of disassociation on trauma symptoms. He is a named investigator on over $2 million in research funding from the National Institute of Mental Health and the Department of Defense. Dr. Capron has been a proud member of ADAA since 2009 (never missing a conference) and his first publication was in ADAA’s official journal Depression & Anxiety.
