Dr Miller completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and his fellowship in dermatopathology at Boston University Medical Center. He is the Director of the University of Minnesota Health’s dermatopathology services. Dr Miller has special interests in inpatient dermatology, cutaneous graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), inflammatory dermatopathology, and melanoma. Dr Miller also works in the outpatient clinic. He has a strong interest in the evaluation and diagnosis of inflammatory skin diseases, both in a clinic with patients and at the microscope.
He is heavily involved in education and teaches residents and medical students on a daily basis. He is currently involved in studying investigational treatments for bullous diseases including pemphigus vulgaris. Dr Miller received the Teacher of the Year award in 2014 at Boston University (BU) and also BU's Humanism in Dermatology Award. He was also awarded a BU Departmental Scholar's Grant for his study on Biomarkers in Acute GVHD. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Dermatology Foundation.
