Daniel Chaput is an IT Specialist at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in Washington D.C. Daniel has dual training background and experience in public health and information technology, plus having worked at the State and Local Health Departments for several years, he also brings in a unique perspective to multiple projects and initiatives at the ONC. He currently co-leads the ONC/FHA Healthcare Directory Initiative and provides support to the Certification and Policy teams within ONC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public health agencies on public health related certification and meaningful use programs.

His background includes IT management and architecture in financial institutions, manufacturing, software, and consulting companies. As a public health informatician he has addressed public health business problems utilizing an IT toolkit including statistics, system and software design, and database management in addition to his management experience. His public health assignments and projects have been at, and across jurisdictional levels including local, state, national, and international levels.
