Dr. Dan Stoeckel specializes in pediatric dentistry and surgical oral pathology (microscopic examination of oral tissue). Through this unique combination of specialties, Dr. Stoeckel brings a fresh perspective to the evaluation and diagnosis of oral lesions both inpatients and under the microscope. Areas of expertise include oral mucositis (ulcers or sores in the mouth), swelling or enlargements in the mouth, and lesions of the jaws.

His research interests include lesions of the jaws and oral mucositis in pediatric patients, pediatric behavior management, and dental materials in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Stoeckel is an associate professor in the Department of Pathology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He directs the pediatric dental residency program at SLU and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

He is a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
