Daniel Brodie MD

Daniel Brodie, M.D., joined the Johns Hopkins Health System in March 2023. He is leading the effort to create innovative models for the delivery of critical care services throughout the health system. Dr. Brodie is also a professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for respiratory and cardiac failure. He has published and lectured frequently on this topic and continues to be actively involved in both clinical and translational research.

Dr. Brodie is the chair of the board of directors of the International ECMO Network (ECMONet), chair of the board of directors, and president of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO). Before joining Johns Hopkins Medicine, Dr. Brodie was a professor of medicine, vice chair of medicine, section chief for critical care, and director of the Center for. Acute Respiratory Failure, and director of the adult ECMO program at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Brodie earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Cornell University. He completed residency training in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
