Daniel A. Rauch, MD is a national leader in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. He was the inaugural chair of the American Board of Pediatrics sub-board in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. He received certificate #1 in recognition of his contributions to the field.

His involvement in PHM spans the history of the field. He founded the Hospital Medicine Special Interest Group of the Academic Pediatric Association and has served as Chair of the AAP Section on Hospital Medicine. He is responsible for starting the annual national PHM summer meeting and the annual national PHM Fellows meeting. The journal, Hospital Pediatrics, published by the AAP, was started when he was section chair. He is the editor of the AAP manual, Caring for the Hospitalized Child, the second edition of which will be released in September 2017. He has held leadership roles in the AAP, APA, and Society of Hospital Medicine. He was acknowledged for his efforts in developing PHM by the Society of Hospital Medicine with their Award for Outstanding Service in Hospital Medicine in 2007, by the AAP with a Special Recognition Certificate, American Academy of Pediatrics Education Award Subcommittee in 2015, and by the PHM community with the PHM Award for Excellence in Clinical Care in 2017.

Dr. Rauch has written over 30 peer-reviewed articles, authored multiple policy statements for the AAP, made over 150 national presentations, and been an invited speaker around the country and internationally. He has also edited two books: Caring for the Hospitalized Child and Challenging Cases in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

A graduate of Wesleyan University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Rauch trained in pediatrics and has spent his career prior to joining Tufts Children's in New York.
